I'm trying to sell on my laptop, and someone asked me the serial number. Why is this so? Is this a pattern of illegal type?

I can not imagine what they could do with an illegal serial number. Most manufacturers, you can access the website, enter the serial number and get the original information on the computer. Thus we can see that it really is a team of trademark and the model to see this problem, which the processor and the other teams, etc.
It is not uncommon to request this information because it is an easy way to pseron check on the computer before you buy.
However, if you will not feel comfortable then sell this information to someone else.
Nothing illegal with a serial number on a laptop can be carried out. The most likely want to see if it left no warranty on the laptop by the manufacturer.
